What is hard mode? Hit ALT+F12, go to tweaks, and uncheck everything:
-No Revert
-No respawn
-No Quicksaves
It is go big or go home. I do not have any mods installed at this time, but one bad build could mean a bad day.

Just an update: So the science stuff kept going, I am going to consider what I did a good training point for people that want to get in to career mode.
I have been playing using some mods:
TAC life support: Kerbals need food, water, air, and power or they die.
Deadly Reentry: Ships need heatshields or low speed reentries or they die.
Kethane : Collect resource on other planets for fuel (not there yet)
RemoteTech2: unmanned ships require a communication chain and you'll need to build and orbital communication network (playing without the delay feature on... it sucks)
MKS - Modular Kerhal System - A system of components for living in space. I'm not there yet either)
and I still have the clouds mod.
All of these together in career mode are really cool and make the game a lot harder/interesting. Downside.. I have killed three Kerbals so far. Bummer eh?

Mission Set 7 Time to buzz Minmus
So I finally ran a flyby Minmus with a modified (badly) flyby ship. Not only did I forget and Kerbal and lost the 32 points, but I also had all the solar panels ripped off during launch somehow and had to suffer with battery problems.
Anyhow, I made it and I now have the Gravioli detector which means even more science. I was also able to buy some other bits, so yeah. Mun trip is next.

This next shopping trip netted three updates
Electrics
Advanced Exploration
Advanced Electrics
599 Science at this point. A quick mission for temp and barometer check on the launchpad will bring that up to 607 so I pick up Electronics so I can get closer to the Gravioli Detector. I am holding on to 307 for now so I can hope for the 550 I need. I'll do a Minmus pass and then I should be golden for Mun landings.

So I am looking at what I have and what I can do. I still want more science points so I am going to do 'High Above Kerbol' mission. Basically you fly outside the Kerbin SOI grab the science and then fly back. The "Low Kerbol" mission means getting within 1,000,000 km of the star which is actually harder than it sounds.
So, I'll run this mission quick here and we get 585.4 Science for it! Woohoo!
Mission Set Number 6 (Mun Fly-by)
So I threw together an over-powered rocket with two capsules on it and science toys and did a 8000m buzz of the Mun for science. Not only did it make for some nice pictures, but it also earned me 341.8 Science which brings me up to 424 points total.
Next post will be shopping again, FOR SCIENCE!
A quick run for a little more science on Kerbin
I made a quick ship and grabbed the science from the Desert and the Ice Caps.
Now I am up to 82 Science Points again, not enough for anything though, so it is now time to get to the Mun.
